Luck was a fickle little thing...
Truly, Dana had displayed commendable judgement and decision-making against her new adversaries, coming up with a seemingly brilliant plan and executing it perfectly. The mobsters whom had once posed a threat to the young female Stand user were easily dispatched by the powerful fists of Force of Nature, none of the men even having a chance to possibly react as they were blinded by the girl's false attack. Well...that wasn't entirely true.
One man had time to react...
Just as Force of Nature had begun to turn its fists towards Mr. Brightside, it looked as if though this fight would've ended just as quickly as it had begun, the aforementioned Stand seemingly blinded by the attack that Dana had sent its way...however, this couldn't have been farther from the truth. Just as the fists came within mere inches of colliding with Mr. Brightside, its arms instantly lit up with the same dull red light as before, a literal light show occurring as each arm moved at speeds that were barely detectable by the human eye, deflecting or redirecting each blow that was thrown its way before finishing the spectacle by grabbing the left arm of the attacking Stand and wrenching it sideways at an extremely uncomfortable angle.
Such speed and pinpoint precision...it was truly incredible the types of feats that Stands were capable of, though it was likely that Dana had no such thoughts at the moment.
The mobster, Jim, simply let out a brief chuckle.
"This one's not like the rest, Jim. Smart...but also stupid. I didn't think that was even possible." the Stand said, quickly tightening its grip on the Stand as it finished speaking.
"Heh...you got that right, Brightside. I'll have to write this lil' moment down in my Greatest Hits book, eh?" he said, rubbing his chin as he confidently stepped closer to Dana to observe her. "This isn't our guy...doesn't match the description, and the survivor didn't mention anything about lightning. This is probably a friend of the guy we're after, which means that she's wasting our time...I don't like time-wasters..." Brightside said in a dark and gruff voice, its grip feeling like a violent sunburn as light could be seen visibly emanating from its hands.
"Now hold on there buddy...let's talk for a minute first, eh? I don't think our guy's goin' anywhere anytime soon. We got two other guys on the floors above us, remember? With the doors locked, ain't no way he's gonna get outta here without us knowin' about it, right? So...like I said, let's talk." Jim said, crossing his arms with a confident little smile upon his face.
"I like to give my victims a fighting chance, so maybe now's the time to explain what just happened and why I wasn't affected by your little trick. See, Mr. Brightside's name ain't just for show...it can manipulate light, in case you haven't figured it out yet. See those lights up there? They weren't shut off or nothin'...I drained the light from them. In fact, if you touched them right now, you'd probably still burn your dainty little hands. So, obviously, when you've got a Stand that can control and use something like light...things like nullifying a bright attack or seeing in the dark don't really take a whole lot of effort to pull off, you know?" he said, the Stand gathering a large amount of light up in its right hand as it maintained a firm, and stressful, grip upon FoN.
"Gotta say...seein' as how you're making use of something like lightning to attack with, that sorta works into my advantage, you know? Seein' as how it's made of light an' all...really bad choice, you pickin' a fight with me." he said, Brightside immediately slapping its hand into the eyes of FoN...and exposing it to blinding, searing light. "You're gonna regret crossin' me and my men in a few minutes...yes you are..." he said, relinquishing his grip on FoN and, by extension, Dana as well.
"Let's play a little game of 'hide n' seek', shall we?! You hide..." he said, his voice and footsteps growing fainter and fainter, "...and I'll seek! My boy here might not like wastin' time, but like I always say...time wastes you!"
It was clear by the man's sadistic toying around and attitude that attacking Dana's eyesight with such powerful light was only in an effort to cause her pain...as pitch black as it already was, blinding her would've served no true purpose other than to get some sick enjoyment out of it.
"Better hide...you don't wanna know what'll happen if I find you!"
Dana's Stand burst into the hallway and hurled the ball of lightning at the mobsters. To them, it would look like an incoming attack. All eyes would be on it as they scrambled to figure out what to do. They would realize too late that Dana's ball of lightning would result in a simple, powerful, and ultimately harmless flash designed to blind them temporarily. With all their attention on that deceptive 'attack,' Dana would be able to act with ease and get within brawling range of her target.
