To be completely fair, David didn't know if he was really expecting this person to help him at all; even after he went through all the effort of tailing her to the restaurant, he couldn't say that any sane person would actually just drop everything and say "yeah, sure! Let's go!" like it was nothing...after all, Windsor and Athenais weren't going to be able to accompany him on this journey, at least not at this very moment. Windsor was a child, and Athenais had a career to think about...it was really too much for him to honestly think that this girl, of all people, would join him. That being said, it still didn't excuse her utterly deplorable attitude and manners towards him, but what could you do? He knew nothing about this girl, so he only assumed that she had been treating him like this because of who he was.
So, with all of this in mind, there wasn't much of a reaction on his end as he listened to Aka, essentially, berate his homeless status and refuse his offer...understandable, really. But, to be fair, as agitated as David already was, her words didn't honestly do all that much to him. It wasn't anything he hadn't heard before, and he was more insulted than angry...though the two were sometimes indistinguishable from each other. When it came to her refusing his offers, that was fine too...he wasn't sure if he could even discover anything concrete about Stands, let alone put up with whatever attitude she apparently had. David had absolutely no intentions of chasing after Aka, nor would he hold a grudge against her; that simply wasn't in his nature. He had come in here to do what he needed to do, and he had overstayed his welcome. Time for him to go.
Today seemed like it was going to be a peaceful day, relatively speaking, until...
The concept of "gravity" was a strange one, a philosophical idea so bizarre that even those affected by this so-called "reality" would sometimes struggle to understand what it all meant. The concept had been hypothesized by a man who went by the name DIO over two decades ago, a Stand user himself, though no one else in New York would likely recognize the name or the weight that it carried in this world.
Essentially, DIO theorized that all Stand users, regardless of class, intelligence, or physical characteristics, were drawn to one another via some universal force known only as "gravity", likening it to how objects are drawn in towards a body of significant size because of the gravitational field that it produces. The Stand user used this concept to explain how and why other Stand users would oftentimes find themselves in the presence of another person of similar ability; but, most importantly, he used it to explain why Stand users seemed to have been drawn to him.
In other words, according to this theory, David and Aka were destined to meet at some point, whether they wanted to or not. This situation was, essentially, unavoidable in the grand scheme of things...though David definitely knew nothing about this theory; neither did Aka, it seems. One could liken it to the concept of "fate" or "destiny", though this wouldn't be entirely correct: it only applied to Stand users.
So, then, perhaps it was gravity that decreed that Aka would insult David's jacket. Perhaps it was gravity that decreed that David would slam his fist down on the table before getting up from his seat and shouting at her, causing a spectacle in the restaurant worthy of some wiley sitcom...
Perhaps it was gravity that decided that David was on the verge of snapping...
"Don't you ever..." he said, clenching his fists as multiple people in the restaurant looked up at him. His fists were visibly shaking, his eyes focused upon the girl like she had just committed some heinous crime against humanity itself...needless to say, he was pretty angry...
"...in your life..." he continued, his tone rapidly increasing as he held a fist up towards his face, quickly swinging it back to his side before he finished talking.
"...talk about my jacket!" he yelled, a quick burst of pressure escaping him and ruffling the napkins on the table behind him, though it wouldn't have been felt by any of the other patrons, save for Kai who was already nearby at the time. The pressure wave was caused by the summoning of First of the Year...but for some reason he hadn't come out at all! The reason for this was actually pretty straightforward, but also unexpected: David quickly snapped back to reality and called him off, the Stand appearing for half of a blink-of-an-eye before disappearing. Why had this happened, one might ask themselves?
Oddly enough, it was because of Windsor, the little boy from a few days ago in the Scrapyard. David, in a brief moment of clarity, hastily remembered the younger's words to him after he had practically destroyed a mobster's face...
For the first time, David had just barely managed to contain himself from annihilating the girl walking away from him...though he'd've been lying like hell if he said it was only because of Windsor's words. While the younger boy's words had snapped him momentarily back into reality, it was the observations taken during this brief moment of clarity that had truly stopped him. There were too many people around him, not to mention the fact that First of the Year could easily bust this place up completely...there was just too much risk for him to afford going berserk again, but this didn't mean that he had settled down...no, far from it!
In the moments since his acknowledgment of his surroundings, his body had begun to visibly shake even more than it had before, his eyes and face clearly showing the fury that he was attempting to hold back. He was just barely restraining himself, an act that felt like it required about as much strength as First of the Year to accomplish! He was holding on by a thread here, and even the slightest prod by anyone threatened to release the floodgates that were holding his anger back. Silently, he wanted Aka to leave and never look back; fearful of what he would do once the worst in him was brought out.
Meanwhile, the restaurant was in an uproar, the people either laughing at David for his reaction or calling him names based on his general appearance. There wasn't much he could do but stand there and take it, his body practically frozen because of how much he was currently restraining himself from attacking Aka. No...he wouldn't be able to safely move again until Aka disappeared from his sight. He felt like if he had attempted to move in any direction, it would simply carry him forward...and right at Aka!

"...and I certainly don't want to be anywhere near that horrendous jacket any longer. Understand?"
