Name: Carlo Cannero
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Occupation: Baseball Player, currently taking an extended break.
Race: Human, to the best of his knowledge.
Physical Appearance: Carlo has black hair shaved close to his scalp and a distinctive scar on his fore-head that he allegedly got when he was a toddler. He’s fairly good looking and noticeably of Italian descent in his olive coloured skin and facial features. Perhaps a given, but he’s in good physical shape owing to his career. Though not to the usual ultra-muscular level of his fellow players, he stands at about six feet tall
Clothing Appearance: Carlo is usually seen wearing his baseball uniform, white with blue stripes lining it, socks tucked into cleats and the cap perched on his head, the whole she-bang. Since he’s on an extended break now he’s alternating in some normal clothes but he rarely escapes the ‘baseball’ archetype in his appearance with one particular T-shirt bearing his name on the back and a baseball on the front. He’s very rarely seen without a cap as it covers the scar on his fore-head.
Personality: Carlo is a bit of an oddball, he’s got a weird sense of humour and frequently makes off-kilter jokes to people about morbid topics or puns that make no sense in English. But beyond that he’s brave, kind and prone to righteous anger at injustice or seeing people come to harm. Unfortunately, he’s also extremely headstrong and a little gullible when it comes to people in distress. Perhaps unusual though, he’s also very perceptive and intuitive. While he can be deceived if someone pushes his buttons, he’s extremely good at noticing things that don’t make sense and working out logical solutions to what seems to be occurring. He’s not exactly observant as he rarely studies a person, but he notices things with remarkable speed (his mind’s processing speed being as fast as it is primarily because he needs to be that fast when he’s at the plate). Perhaps the best way to describe him in one word is fast, leaping from thought to thought and changing emotions at the drop of a hat.
Weapons/Tools: Carlo’s only ‘weapon’ is usually spare baseballs he carries in a satchel, originally for practice but now utilising his Stand’s abilities to help him out.
Skills: Carlo is a pretty amazing Baseball player, his preferred position is as the pitcher and he can pitch at a major league type of speed. Besides this he’s not a bad hand-to-hand fighter and he’s a pretty mean cook. While he can drive, he’s also not very good.
Of particular note, his mental processing speed is incredibly fast making him extremely quick-witted and giving him excellent reflexes.
Are they a Stand User: Yes
Quotes:
“That… was your third strike.”
“Bottom of the ninth, huh? Time to get serious…”
“The cutter escaped? Must have taken a short-CUT! Amirite?”
“Pizza Mozaaa-rella”
Their Goal: Keep playing Major League and buy a big house. Recently, to beat the tar out of the Cutter and avenge his fallen fan.
Their Secret: Carlo is actually an open book, and doesn't really have any secrets. But the secret he DOESN'T know is that his uncle tried to join Passione and is wanted by both Interpol and the Mafia.
Weaknesses: Carlo has a temper and it clouds his judgement, when he gets riled up his deductive reasoning skills go out the window. He’s also got ‘buttons’ that people can push, hurting innocent people and making fun of people who have heroes is a big one. He’s also very loyal to his family.
Strengths: Carlo has NO idea when to give up, he’s stubborn to a fault and his sheer will to live saved his life when he was a toddler. He’s also very astute, though this is mitigated by his temper, his perception and speed of thought are extremely fast for a human.
Bio: Carlo’s had a… relatively uneventful life. The biggest occurrence until now was probably when he was 3 years old in Italy. His Uncle agreed to look after him for the day and spent the whole time watching a lighter with an intense fervour. What happened next is unclear but Carlo’s mother really belted at her brother when she came back and found her son now had a scar across his head. As he grew, the scar did too which may explain why nobody has yet connected it with the Cutter case.
Carlo spent his youth playing baseball in the street with his friends, getting better and better but always feeling like his ‘shadow’ would give him an unfair advantage. When he was in school and saw a bully beating up another boy, he used his ‘shadow’ to send the bully flying out into the playground and broke his arm. While no-one caught him, he felt terrible that he had such a power and promised himself he wouldn’t use it against people who didn’t deserve it. He seemed almost unaware that he was unique in having such a loyal ‘shadow’ and used it throughout his life for casual things such as passing him a drink from across the room and practicing his catches. Some of the neighbourhood kids whispered he had a ghost for a friend but Carlo was too affable for these rumors to hurt him in anyway.
He was scouted in high school (his natural talents, he still refused to his ‘shadow’ to help) and soon became a minor league star. He has a few fans in the neighbourhood and always made time to sign any memorabilia presented to him. Until that night.
He can’t remember the kid’s name, that’s the part that eats at Carlo. He was signing the boy’s glove when something attacked out of nowhere. His ‘shadow’ flared up, larger than he could remember it being, and fended off the attack on him but was too slow to save the boy. While Carlo tried to help him, the attacked got away. Carlo spent a few days in jail, he was now the prime suspect for being the Cutter, but a search of his person revealed he had no means to make the mark and an alibi for every other killing. They had to let him go. Carlo called his manager and said he needed to take some time off, the killing had affected him deeply. But the reality? Carlo was not going to allow his fan to go unavenged. He’s refused to allow himself to visit the grave until the Cutter is behind bars or in the ground. ..
