Catherine looked at the photo intently. It wasn't that great of quality, but it she could see a the shape of a humanoid figure that had been carved into a wall. It looked ancient, the stone was cracked and she could still see some remnants of what she assumed were vines. She realized she had heard about this.
"Isn't this the new exhibit that the museum is getting?" Catherine asked Cairo.
The stand hybrid was sitting directly across from her at a table. Catherine's visits to the rundown church became more frequent, but ever since that incident in the park, she hadn't been practicing her spin techniques. Rather, Cairo had mentioned he knew what was going on and would explain in due time.
Cairo nodded sliding the picture back to him. "I heard it was coming, thought I would check it out when it got here." Cairo's face turned grave for a moment. "But no one was there when I arrived."
Catherine tilted her head. "What? You mean that it was short staffed?" She probably wasn't going to like his answer.
Cairo shook his head. "I mean that the entire crew was gone. No sailors, no archaeologists, no one. Only the statue made it."
Catherine put her hand to her chin, like she normally did when thinking. "Who would wipe out an entire crew and leave the boat, and all of its cargo, completely intact?" She knew the Speedwagon foundation had insisted upon taking the statue for themselves, but she didn't think that company had any real activity out side of research. What else could they do?
Cairo pointed at the photo statue. "I think it was this."
Catherine tilted her head. "The statue? What, do you think it's a kind of stand?"
"I am not sure." Cairo admitted. "But when I got closer, it tried ensnare with some kind of hook. The police showed up before I could destroy it."
Catherine waved her hand. "Wait, a hook shot out of it?"
Cairo nodded. "I am going to that museum tonight. I have to destroy it before someone else gets killed."
Catherine rose to her feet. "I'll go with you." She realized that she had been getting into quite the habit of getting into trouble.
But Cairo raised a hand. "After what happened in that park, I do not think it is safe for you yet." There he was with that kind of talk again. He had never given Catherine a straight answer, but putting up a front was starting to get old very fast.
"You know that going alone is dangerous. What if someone sees you, or you get into trouble?" Catherine began to press.
"It is not my first time going outside. I will be fine." Cairo began to stand up. Catherine wasn't much of a person to argue with people, but she was beginning to realize how she couldn't let problems go anymore.
"Wait." Cairo stopped and looked back over his shoulder. "I know people who could help."
Cairo turned around to face her fully. "Who?"

A little thread idea for when Cairo leaves the church and goes out on a little escapade of his own. Takes place at the museum in the dead of night. Anyone is welcome to join!
