Name: Donald Gavin Yorke
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Occupation: Private Detective
Race: Human
Physical Appearance: Yorke is of an average build with a pronounced brow, athletic build and short green hair kept hidden beneath his hat. Somewhere between good looking and average, Yorke is known for his nearly always moving eyes and scarred knuckles from numerous bare-knuckle fights he was involved in in his youth. On his face is a half moon mark beneath his eye which appears to be purely cosmetic (typical Jojo weirdness).
Clothing Appearance: Smart dressed but in typical Araki style, Yorke is usually seen in a grey buttoned down shirt with diamond print covering it, red tie and a green vest with a clover motif. His lower half he wears jeans and practical work-boots while on his head is perched a bowler hat which obscures his short hair. He’s rather noticeably got star shaped cufflinks and a chain from his pocket to his belt and from his vest outside to inside pocket.
Personality: The quintessential detective, Yorke is inquisitive and focused on details but maybe somewhat lacking in social grace and tact. He’s very keen to examine people and to try to psycho-analyse them which usually takes the form of asking bizarre, off the wall questions to gauge their response whatever the situation. He’s aware that his Stand is lacking in the offensive department and so he usually considers it just another tool in his arsenal, albeit a handy one. Perhaps ironically, he’s sometimes even loathe to use it because he thinks the Telepathy function is ‘cheating’ but he is at heart a pragmatist. He’s a little arrogant about his own intelligence but has a strong sense of justice which will often motivate him to get involved in situations he shouldn’t. He’s also rather keen on pointing out his own poor luck.
Weapons/Tools: Yorke has a permit for a firearm and traditionally carries a 9mm handgun for self defence. Beyond that, his status as a private detective and a small association of detective tools he keeps in his office are Yorke’s primary tools of choice.
Skills: Yorke is a great detective, a competent hand to hand fighter (about good enough to handle a Stand with a C in speed and destructive power using Knuckle Duster) and remarkable strategist. He’s also good at lock picking, interrogation, photography and he’s a capable driver.
Are they a stand user? : Yes
Quotes:
“Your secret… I see it clear as day!”
“Ahh, of course, just my luck…”
“Justice cannot exist without rage, and you’ve made me plenty angry!”
Their Goal:
“To solve the mystery of who Cutter is.”
Their Secret:
“Yorke was fired as a policeman for botching a case”
Weaknesses:
Arrogance- Yorke has the terrible habit of being convinced what he thinks will happen will happen; by and large he gets it right but his lack of flexibility has been his downfall before.
Temper- Yorke gets fired up at perceived injustices rather easily and can make mistakes when mad.
Bad Luck- For better or worse, Yorke has terrible luck. He’s aware of it, but that doesn’t often help him.
Strengths:
Observant- Yorke notices everything with extreme acuity, his mind is always cataloguing and analysing as things happen and forming theories.
Manipulative- Yorke is pretty good at reading people and he’s even better at guessing their next move(provided he has the right data), this makes him a very cunning combatant.
Strong willed- The flipside to his arrogance, Yorke has a dominating will that helps him to brave whatever dangers in the name of achieving his goals
Bio:
Born in England in the late 80’s, Yorke grew up enamoured with the police after watching a number of high profile arrests on his TV. A smart kid, he quickly outpaced his peers in school and became absorbed in detective fiction to hone his deductive mind before he finally became old enough to join the police. Perhaps due to his intelligence or maybe he had a streak of good luck, Yorke was soon a detective at the young age of 23 and partnered with his trusted friend, Gordon Sting. For two years they worked well together, like a well oiled machine, until the ‘Archer’ murders tore them apart.
Some lunatic was parading around London shooting people with a bow and arrow (judged by ballistics, the arrow was never recovered). Yorke was obsessed with solving the mystery, Sting was helpful of course but they had an unbalanced relationship. Yorke quickly and deftly narrowed down the hiding place of the Archer and made the worst mistake he has yet made. He had deduced that the Archer only had [One] Arrow which meant that he would have to choose between Yorke and Sting were he to open fire. With that in mind, they spread out horizontally and approached, shouting that he should turn himself in. From a top floor window, Yorke saw the glint of an arrow and shouted at Sting to get down but it was too late. The arrow launched at Yorke and struck him in the neck. But it wasn’t done, it ripped clean through and moving in an unnatural arc, struck String in the back too. Lying on the ground, Yorke reached out towards the window, his last conscious thoughts?
“What didn’t I see?”
Yorke awoke with a scar but he’d survived. Impossibly. Despite having a lighter injury, Sting had not. His funeral was well attended. Yorke left the police before he could be investigated, admitting that even if he didn’t pull the trigger, Sting’s death was his fault. He left the country and decided to truly embrace his detective life and become a private eye. During this time, his Stand developed and he quickly grew proficient with it (though he believes he hasn’t fully mastered it yet). Everything was going smoothly until he was hired by a woman in New York to investigate the murder of her daughter. And Yorke noticed a pattern… between the [Cutter] and the [Archer]…
