Name: Marianne Schneider
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Occupation: Student, English tutor.
Race: Human
Physical Appearance: Marianne stands at about 5'6 and has a cornet body shape. Broad shoulders, rather small bust but not small enough to appear flat, pretty much no curves on her waist, and small hips with long legs. It's a pretty tom boy-ish shape and she could probably pass as a boy with the right clothes. Her face is a square shape and her skin is a fair shade. Blue eyes and a naturally serious expression make her look, as Hideki would put it, 'pretty German'. Having grown a deep annoyance with long hair, Marianne has hers cut in a short bob with her bangs brushed across her forehead and parted to the right. She likes to take great care of her blonde hair so it's very rare to find it disheveled or tangled. Actually, she likes to keep her general appearance as neat and orderly as possible! Just by looking at her you can tell she's the kind of person who keeps their bookshelf in alphabetical order. Unlike other girls, Marianne will never be seen wearing makeup, even for dates the most she'll wear is some of those soda flavored/scented lip balms. There also seems to be a sort of maturity in how she carries herself, though this isn't to say she's stiff in any means. If anything Marianne's a pretty relaxed person! To describe it, it's the same sort of relaxed maturity you'd feel radiating off that one really chill teacher you have who's in his or her late 40's and has had a kid or two. Yeah, that's about right.
Clothing Appearance: On some aspects it kind of seems like Marianne is still living in the 90's. She has the classic high waisted jeans and plain white shirt, but usually decides to wear her lucky pink sweater over it to try to tone down the 90's vibe. There's nothing really that striking about the sweater and it's a pretty simple design. Simple knit, two horizontal black stripes on the upper arm of the right sleeve, and a single thick black horizontal stripe just under her bust. Her shoes are pretty simple as well. Just some plain white sneakers with two black stripes on the sides. The only thing that stands out about them is how damn clean she keeps them! Seriously, sometimes it looks like they reflect light! Though if the shoes don't catch your attention then her signature headband and fake pearl necklace will. It's really just a simple pink plastic headband (which she doesn't even use to keep her bangs back. It's just there. ) and her necklace is the type you would see little kids playing dress up with. The only reason they stand out is because they just seem to suit her perfectly.
Personality: Marianne is....well, your typical straight A student. Studies hard, keeps her manners about her, and is a pretty social student. Chances are you've met her or heard her name at least once if you go to the same school as her! She's a calm character and is kind of like a laid-back and understanding older sister type to most people. It's very hard to anger or upset her which often leads people to talk to her about personal issues, not only because of that but also because she tends to be a very understanding person ( some of this comes from her stand ) and is always willing to help someone work through their issues. She's the type of friend who you could call at 3 in the morning crying and she'd show up at your door with a stack of movies with a bag of your favorite food she stopped to pick up on her way over. Still hot, too. She'll always be there if you need a shoulder to cry on or someone to rant to, but she's not afraid to dish out a little bit of tough love whenever it's needed and won't hesitate to tell you you're in the wrong.
Marianne acts a bit mature for her age though this isn't to say she doesn't enjoy goofing off. In fact, she really enjoys seeing people just take the time to be childish! She's just not really prone to doing so herself. She's also the kind of person to take pleasure in the simple things of life. Like a perfectly sunny day, the perfect spoonful of peanut butter, things that align just right, surprisingly symmetrical things, and perfectly arranged/grouped candy. All the things that are looked over and glanced over from the hustle and bustle of New York. However, Marianne isn't always as mature as she'd like people to think. If you've seen her when she's with Hideki then you know how absolutely energetic the girl can get. Order doesn't matter anymore, her smile grows ten times larger, and she just seems so much more alive around him. She does let her childish side let loose and she loses just a little teeny bit of her maturity whenever they're joking around and acting like goofballs. This is when she lets her humor shine through and a plethora of sarcastic remarks, horrible puns, dad jokes, and historical references and jokes are made. Some of them are perfectly timed and hilarious, others are perfectly timed but make you groan because it was such a horrible pun. Utterly horrendous. A disgrace to all comedy, but it really made the scene.
She's also a little bit of a neat freak and is at her happiest when everything is in its respective place and in tip top shape! You know this if you've taken one look at her school binders. Not a single piece of paper is out of place or crooked and everything is perfectly organized by date. However, she won't get irritated if things happen to get out of order. Sometimes things just fall into place like that and trying to put them in order just makes them seem even messier. That's okay. Which leads us to another major trait of hers, how acceptant she is. Marianne has a very strict moral compass in her but she won't oppose if something goes against it. After her meeting with Hideki she discovered this entire new world she'd only ever read about in newspapers and heard about on TV. She used to sit in a chair and talk to her parents about how awful it was that such things could happen and that something should be done to make a change for the better. That was before Hideki. Now...she's come to accept all the darkness and malice lurking around in the world. Every crooked politician, every conniving corporate boss, every seedy thief, and every sinning gangster and man gone astray. She's accepted that this world has become hers and has welcomed every distorted figure that comes with it. Though I advise that you do not mistake her acceptance for forgiveness.
Marianne also loves people and emotions, though in a much less disturbing way than Hideki. She loves how people can feel so many different things-wonderful and complex extraordinary things!-in such little ordinary bits of time. She embraces their emotions without hesitation and has taken to observing those around her in a much more acceptable way than Hideki. Her favorite thing to do is take a long walk around the city, enjoying the mix of people around her before settling down in the park and taking it slow. Just chill under a tree or on a bench, read a book, and smile as she feels the joy of a man playing fetch with his dog or the simple content of a woman watching the leaves on the trees blow in a stray gust of wind, Marianne's hand flirting with Hideki's while he relaxes next to her in his own separate world.
Weapons/Tools: Her own stand and a pocket knife Hideki gave her for protection. The pocket knife's nothing special, the only thing noticeable on it is some katakana Hideki had carved into it that translates into "Stay safe" with a little heart next to it. Sometimes there will also be what appears to be a dark shadow across the blade of the pocket knife. A piece of Hideki's stand....
Skills:
-Peace keeping: She's pretty good at helping people work things out and usually acts as a mediator. The girl has a bottomless supply of patience and her stand certainly helps out with this as well!
-Cooking: She and Hideki like to cook together, though it can be difficult trying to work out a meal since they both come from different cultures and have vastly different tastes in food but they manage. Marianne's most skilled when it comes to cooking Italian dishes but Indian dishes come in at a close second and, of course, Japanese is in third.
-Communication: Marianne is very good when it comes to explaining her opinions on issues in ways that everyone can understand as well as doing the same for her emotions. You don't have to worry about getting lost in translation with her. She's also a pretty open person and good at keeping up communication between a group and making sure everyone is on the same page.
-Listening: You'll never find a time she isn't willing to listen to you if you need to rant or get something off your chest. Marianne's one of those people that just genuinely likes helping and learning about people, you won't catch her nodding off or gazing into the distance when you're talking about something even if it's something incredibly boring. She'll always give you her full attention whenever you need it.
-Order: The girl literally has a folder, a binder, and a shelf for everything! She's good at keeping track of things, hell, you could ask her where her first grade drawings are and she'd be able to find and give you the entire portfolio in under five minutes!
-Quick Learner: She picks up on new skills relatively quickly, though this doesn't mean she's perfect right off the bat. She'll understand the basic idea of it but it'll still take her some practice and studying to really get it down.
-Understanding: Because of her stand Marianne is able to connect with and understand people on a deep emotional level. She feels the same thing they feel and is able to relate in a way others may not be able to, which helps her forge tight bonds with people as well as be better suited for being a peace keeper.

Quotes: "Hideki, I love you, but I am not going to eat that." "You'd be surprised by how much you have in common with other people. None of us are really that different. We all have the same problems, same general goal, and for the most part we feel the same about a lot of things. We just like to think we're different." "Isn't it amazing to think about all the different people we know? Just think about it! Out of the billions of people on the planet and billions of places and situations you could have been, everything fell into place in just the right order for you to make that one friend or meet that special somebody! If just one detail had been different you could've missed them, but you didn't!" "Sometimes I worry about you Hideki, but then you go and smile at me." "Am I afraid of him? Well, no. Not really. I know he's not exactly a saint but....I don't really mind it."
Their Goal: She just wants to live a satisfying life and settle down with Hideki one day. Though of course she'd really rather get through college first before that happens.
Their Secret: She has a secret fear of the Digimon named "Infermon". Showing her a picture of the damn thing will always get a shudder and an uncomfortable whine or groan from her. It's the eyes! Those dark, soulless eyes....!
Weaknesses: Marianne isn't the most experienced fighter out there. She didn't really start learning self defense until Hideki insisted she start, so her form and speed still have some issues that can be easily taken advantage of. Hideki is definitely a weak spot for Marianne. Just like him she'd go mad if she ever lost him, perhaps even insane.
Strengths: While she may be lacking in form and speed, don't underestimate her strength. The girl can throw a mean hay-maker and her kicks are violent! She's got a quick mind on her and if she can't win she can sure as hell find a way to escape.
Bio: Born in Berlin, Marianne stayed in Germany for the first seven years of her life. Nothing was really strange about her life, it was pretty average. Middle class parents that loved her, a normal school with normal friends, calm city and a calm life. There wasn't anything that separated her from any other average kid....except for one thing. It began happening around the time she was 3, something she couldn't really control. It just came and went randomly. Every now and then her vision would change and she could see the hearts of those around her. She could see everything they felt, even feel their emotions echoing in her own body. Though this strange ability would go away whenever she rubbed at her eyes, but she didn't think anything of it. In fact she thought it was normal! She never bothered to bring it up to her parents as it never really caused her much trouble, at least not until she got older.
Public places filled to the brim with people were never a good thing for Marianne. She had enough trouble with them back in Germany, but things only got worse when she and her family moved to NYC. Not only was she stressed out from the move and the new environment, but as her stress increased the more often this strange ability would pop up and assault her with all the different emotions flooding in to her system. There was just...too much! On multiple occasions she had panic attacks, nervous breakdowns, and had even fainted seemingly out of nowhere. Her parents arranged for her to see multiple different doctors but they all said the same thing. She was just stressed from the move. They had her meet with a child psychologist once every week to just talk about everything and help relieve the stress. She told them about her vision, about how she could see the hearts of those around her and feel what they did, but this was just brushed off and labelled as stress induced hallucinations as well as being hyper empathic. They gave her medicine and tried to keep visits constant as well as making sure communication in the home was stable but this still did little to help Marianne from being overwhelmed by the sea of emotion around her.
She got so sick and tired of feeling all the emotions of OTHERS, hated how their problems could suddenly become her own with a simple blink of the eye, and most of all she was just tired. Exhausted! Every single damn feeling made her stomach churn. Joy? Please! Relaxed? As if! Anger, grief, sadness, content, elation, *love*?! All of them could just shrivel up and die under the sun for all she cared! So, to keep from feeling all those nasty rotten things, she shut herself off. She distanced herself from the world around her and isolated herself. Even from her own emotions. Marianne became an empty child. Grades dropped as she lacked motivation, she couldn't care less about making friends, and she stopped talking to her parents. All around things just sucked. This went on for years until one, unlucky, cold, rainy New York night on her fifteenth birthday. October 22nd.
She hadn't meant to stay out so late. Just got swept up in a crowd and hadn't been paying attention to where she was going ( and frankly didn't care where ). It happened so quickly as well, she hadn't had time to scream or even flinch. One second she was turning a corner and the next...blackness. A few hours later and Marianne awoke in a strange room. The walls and floor were concrete, it was so cold she couldn't feel her fingers, she was chained to a wall splashed with faded red and a plethora of other stains she didn't want to know the origins off, and a foul smell floated heavy in the air of the room. Only one light was on. A simple reading lamp on a simple wooden table with a man sitting in a simple wooden chair next to it. Hideki Hiruma. He did nothing but stare at her from behind his mask for two hours straight, observing every nervous breath and every panicked blink she gave. Marianne could do nothing as she stood frozen in fear. For the first time in a long time she could feel something, she couldn't deny the horror deep in her bones. The way it made her stiff, made every muscle tense in fear, sent her stomach flipping, and made her twitch and gulp as her breathing sped up without her noticing. What was he going to do to her? Anything, he could do anything and not worry about being caught. Yet all he did was sit there and stare at her and the fact that she couldn't even hear his breathing and that he didn't even move was somehow more terrifying than anything else. It was like he was waiting, but for what? Apparently he didn't get what he wanted, as after the third hour he sighed and got up to leave, making sure to push his chair in neatly before he reached to turn the light off. That's when Marianne's vision came back. Her fear activated her ability and she immediately zoned in on Hideki's twisted heart and saw in him something she hadn't expected. There was no malice, no ill-intent, no anger or frustration or even guilt or sorrow. Just...a soft love with hints of curiosity mixed in. Even a little bit of joy mixed in, the kind of joy you get from doing something you enjoy. Like when you see a kid reading a book they like or playing with a toy. She saw this and felt her terror melt away as the same warmth bloomed in her chest, relaxing in her chains and watching him as he had been watching her. Hideki noticed this and glanced over. For ten silent minutes they observed each other before he finally shut off the light and left with nonexistent footsteps. The next day the same routine was repeated. The next day and it was the same thing. It repeated like that for two weeks.
The third week Hideki began talking. Just asking random things such as name, favorite color, favorite thing, favorite movie genre, simple things like that. Though he'd never give his own answer, but Marianne was fine with that. The questions began to get more complex over time and she could feel his curiosity increasing as well as the beginnings of something....different. November bled into December and they began to have short conversations. Simple things. He'd ask her what movies she'd seen and listen to what she could remember of them, seeing if he could rent them out later so they could then have a longer discussion on it. Sometimes he'd ask about her childhood and listen as she talked about Germany and even taught him a few words of the language. December changed to January and Hideki began to answer some of her questions, cautiously creeping along and thinking his answers over before giving them. Things had taken a 180 with Marianne seeming to be the interrogator and Hideki being the one in chains. Occasionally she would get a small snippet of his childhood, but these tales were always cut short and his brother only mentioned once or twice. Though...Hideki began to tell her about what he did. He told her about his 'research' as he dubbed it as if he was just talking about a book he just read rather than about human experimentation. He did spare the gory details, though would include them if asked, and Marianne watched his heart as he spoke. No sadistic joy or satisfaction, nothing dark, just...enjoyment, passion, like someone who loved their job. Overtime, as he spoke of this, Marianne felt her own curiosity and interest being peaked. Whether this was a result of feeling Hideki's own drive for the subject or her own, she debated on after he released her.
January to February was pleasant. Her shackles were loosened, the foul odor of the room was drained out and replaced with the scent of cherry blossoms, and a stereo in the corner of the room played soft music to keep her from getting too antsy from the silence. Conversation flowed easily between her and Hideki and he'd begun to take his mask off. Now she could see the faint twist of his lips into a smile every time she made a sarcastic remark or joke, and it seemed as if the two were friends. She learned more about his childhood and past, though he was still secretive about a few things. Everything went smoothly. February turned to March and she was allowed her freedom. The shackles were removed, she was relocated to what appeared to be the main hall of an unknown building, and was given the freedom to move about as she pleased, provided that she didn't try to escape of course. For the first few days everything was just peachy....but then she let her ability loose again.
Hundreds of them. Everywhere. Up, down, left, right. She could hear them...! The pain, the horror, the screaming and the grief! The sick enjoyment and the insanity...! There was no escape from this horrid, twisted, land of sin!
She cried, she shrieked, she flailed and she tried to escape the echoes of their hearts! But there was nowhere to go....she was trapped. Hideki tried his best to comfort her as for days she did nothing but cry and panic. They had to tie her down a few times to keep Marianne from harming herself. Then finally she gave up. One day she stilled and laid there as Hideki sat next to her and brushed out the knots in her hair. Perhaps it was the crippling concern and worry she felt radiating from him, or maybe it was her own exhaustion and final plea for help, but she told him. She told him everything. He sat and listened, occasionally nodding as he put an arm around her to try and keep her calm and steady as she spoke. At the end of it all...he said the one thing that helped her more than anything.
"Just accept them."
She thought about it...and replied with "I need to go home."
A few days later Hideki blindfolded her and lead her out into an alley, only taking it off once the hide-out wasn't in sight and pointing her to the street she'd need to take. It was an awkward goodbye and she found that she was quite fond of Hideki so....she took a bit of a chance and asked him to meet up with her the following Saturday, right here. He agreed and they parted ways.
On the way back she hesitated. Should she...? ...Yes. Marianne closed her eyes tight and when they opened she saw the hearts of everyone around her. Rather than try and deny their emotions as she did before, she tried to open her heart and accept them as Hideki had told her. It wasn't a perfect attempt, she was still hesitant and slipped up more than a few times, but it wasn't too bad of a start. Once she got home she got the expected dramatic scene of parents crying, news coming to ask questions, police asking her questions of who took her and where she'd been, some rumors around the school, but she did her best to not let things overwhelm her. She tried to accept this ability of hers and the more she tried the more she discovered! For one, Marianne managed to summon her stand within two month's time, tried using it, discovering its abilities, and even trying to use them! Of course she told Hideki about this and in time he revealed the secret of how he kidnapped her in the first place, showing her his own stand in private and helping Marianne to come to understand her own. She met up with him more and more for his help and this lead to them becoming quite close within the next two years, so much so that Marianne began to feel something in her own heart. Something...warm. She'd seen and felt this so many times in others she knew right of the bat what it was and smiled as she could feel it in Hideki as well.
Soon he asked her out on a date and she agreed. As she expected they quickly fell in love with each other and, by the time she was 19, she'd even moved in with him. She doesn't regret a single second of their time together.
( I would like to replace Darrel with Marianne if that is possible ^^; )
